A support for industrial shipping
Öckeröborgen is a family-owned controlling company with several companies in the marine sector in Sweden.
The shipyard Ö-varvet was founded by Ernst Backman in 1916 as a repair yard for fishing boats. In 1945, the shipyard was taken over by the sons Gösta and Hugo Backman and then in 1966 it was taken over by Gösta’s son Rune Backman.
In 1990, the yard was taken over by sons Peder, Örjan and Jonas Backman. The yard then employed 17 people.
Since 1990, the development has constantly progressed, from having been one shipyard in 1990 to the group today consisting of five shipyards and the majority of other marine-related companies.
Today, the 5th generation Backman is also active in the company group. The group currently employs close to 600 employees with companies located in various locations around Sweden.
